Sasha Suda, the director and chief executive of the Philadelphia Art Museum (PAM), was removed from her role on November 4.
Suda had been in the role for three years, following a three-year stint at the National Gallery of Canada.
According to Philadelphia Magazine, Suda was informed of her dismissal for "cause" via email, though the reason was not specified.
"As of today, director and chief executive Sasha Suda is no longer with the Philadelphia Art Museum,"
a museum spokesperson stated. Louis Marchesano, deputy director of curatorial affairs and conservation, will lead day-to-day operations while an interim director is identified.
