Panthers to be tested by Wichita Carroll

Panthers to Face Wichita Carroll

Great Bend's football team, led by coach Erin Beck, will host Wichita Carroll in a second-round 5A showdown at Memorial Stadium.

The Panthers have a history with Wichita Carroll, having beaten them 21-14 in 2006, which led to their lone trip to the 5A state football championship game.

"It's 5A West playoff time," said Great Bend football coach Erin Beck. "We're at the point where we'll have to play four quarters. Our kids are fresh and ready to go. The guys cranked it up in the weight room this week. They're getting stronger, which is a good sign."

Wichita Carroll has a 5-2 all-time advantage over the Panthers, with their first meeting in 2004 won by Great Bend 42-28. The Eagles are run-oriented, led by dual-threat quarterback John Corrigan and main backfield threat Cooper Herrman.
