According to a report from The Advocate newspaper, LSU has named Verge Ausberry as its permanent athletic director.
Ausberry was previously named to the position on an interim basis after LSU and former Athletic Director Scott Woodward parted ways. The decision was made by newly named LSU President Wade Rousse.
Ausberry, a native of New Iberia and former LSU linebacker, has spent over 30 years with the university, serving in various leadership roles across academics, fundraising, marketing, and sports administration.
As noted by The Advocate, a formal announcement about Ausberry is expected in the coming days. Meanwhile, a search is underway for a new permanent LSU Football head coach following the firing of Brian Kelly.
