Toyota Unveils Redesigned HiLux with Major Upgrades
Toyota has revealed the redesigned HiLux featuring a striking exterior, enhanced drivability and comfort, and a refreshed interior with upgraded multimedia and safety systems.
Powertrain Options
- Diesel engines remain available with 21 variants across single, extra, and double cab formats.
- First-time introduction of a battery-electric powertrain targeting mainly fleet customers.
- A hydrogen fuel cell (FCEV) version is planned for release in 2028.
Model Variants and Configuration
- Models include WorkMate, SR, SR5, Rogue, and Rugged X trims.
- Options for 4X2 or 4X4 drivetrains with manual or automatic transmissions.
- Rugged X model designed for enhanced off-road ability with features for protection and recovery in tough terrain.
Design and Interior Enhancements
The bold exterior was locally developed in Altona, collaborating with teams in Thailand and Japan, inspired by a “Cyber Sumo” theme. It features slim headlights, sharp lines, and fully redesigned front and rear sections.
The interior boasts a completely revamped three-tier dashboard, positioned flatter than before to improve forward visibility.

The new HiLux is scheduled to launch in Australia in December 2025.
