The Government Rewrites the History of Jan. 6

Editor: Two federal prosecutors were placed on leave by the Justice Department, and all references to the January 6 Capitol events were removed from court filings.

“Justice Department strips Jan. 6 references from court paper and punishes prosecutor who filed it.”

So, according to our own government, the event never occurred. Nations that have altered or erased parts of their history include Russia, Hungary, China, and Germany. What else might the Justice Department want citizens to overlook? For me, that forgotten description would be “land of the free and home of the brave.” When that phrase disappears into history, what remains?

Another Audit Isn’t the Answer for Santa Rosa Schools

Editor: Teachers and staff at Santa Rosa City Schools are calling for another audit of district accounts.

“Teachers union rallies for outside audit,” Nov.

An audit only verifies whether spending and balances are properly recorded. It doesn’t measure whether that spending is necessary or effective. Audits take valuable time and money that teachers, staff, and the district lack. Over the years, I have reviewed district finances; audits often return clean results and take about six months to complete.

A few years ago, I used the Public Records Act to obtain detailed financial records and reviewed the numbers carefully myself.

Author’s Summary

The letters criticize government revision of historical events and question the usefulness of repeated financial audits in Santa Rosa schools.
