When I first entered the house, I was overwhelmed by the vibrant colours, lighting, and energy — a dramatic yet inviting feeling. It reminded me of that excitement when tasting a new favourite dish for the first time, craving more with each bite.
As New Idea’s Entertainment Writer, I traveled from Sydney to the Gold Coast to be among the first to see the Big Brother house prior to the contestants moving in. During their 2026 Upfront event on a warm spring evening, show host Mel Tracina welcomed guests, teasing an exciting season ahead.
We were then given unrestricted access to explore the house, which was astonishing in its size. The main lounge area is spacious, accompanied by several smaller hangout spots.
