A beautiful display of remembrance and community spirit will be showcased at St Editha’s Church this Remembrance Sunday, thanks to a special project led by Maureen, a tenant at Tamworth’s Annandale sheltered housing scheme.
Maureen, 76, created a striking poppy-themed art installation with the help of her daughter and granddaughter. This intergenerational effort will be prominently displayed at the church entrance, where Maureen will also accompany the Mayor of Tamworth during the commemorations.
The poppy display was crafted in the Annandale communal lounge, transforming the space into a hub of creativity. With support from her family and Tamworth Borough Council’s Scheme Manager, Maureen brought her vision to life through numerous handcrafted poppies, each representing the courage, sacrifice, and service of those who served.
The project holds personal significance for Maureen, reflecting her own time in service. This connection adds a deeper meaning to the tribute.
“It is an absolute honour to see this beautiful tribute come to life in Tamworth. Maureen’s dedication to remembering those who served, alongside her family’s involvement, is truly inspiring.”
This heartfelt project embodies remembrance, family collaboration, and respect for those who served, making it a touching highlight of the town’s Remembrance Sunday.
