South Korean singer Hyuna, known for her energetic performances, caused alarm among fans when she suddenly collapsed on stage at the Waterbomb Macau music festival on November 9. The 33-year-old artist was performing her 2011 hit Bubble Pop! when she fainted mid-performance.
Videos shared on social media show two backup dancers rushing to help her, followed by a security staff member carrying her off the stage. The incident has reignited concerns about her health as fans await official updates on her condition.
Hyuna, a former member of the K-pop groups Wonder Girls, 4Minute, and Triple H, later addressed the incident through Instagram, apologizing and reassuring her supporters that she was recovering well.
“I’m truly sorry,” she wrote in Korean. “It was only a short time since my last performance, but I wanted to show you my best side.”
“I’ll try to build up my stamina and work hard consistently,” she added. “It will be so great if everything goes my way, but I’ll try my best.”
According to Hyuna, she has no recollection of the moment she fainted and expressed regret to fans in Macau who came to see her perform. Her previous Instagram post from October 3 had already worried fans after she commented on her own weight and diet.
“Hyun-ah, you ate way too much,” she wrote, referring to herself in the third person. “Let’s snap out of it and go on a strict diet. You liked being skinny, right?”
Hyuna, whose full name is Kim Hyun-ah, remains one of South Korea’s most influential solo performers. Her career spans over a decade, marked by bold concepts, viral hits, and loyal fan support worldwide.
