First Alert Weather: Cool and mainly dry today, and tracking our first chance for snow next week

First Alert Weather Update

We’re back to green on the Threat Tracker as winds have calmed, and this morning features some passing lake rain showers. Rain chances should end by afternoon, followed by partly to mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid-40s.

Winds remain light, with the strongest gusts around 20 MPH.

Winds and Rain Forecast

Winds will pick up tomorrow ahead of another front, bringing gusts up to 30 MPH with rain expected in the afternoon and evening.

Saturday will be cool and cloudy with calmer winds. On Sunday, a low-pressure system will pass nearby, delivering rain here and snow to areas across the lake.

Snow Chances

Sunday night, cold air will circulate around the system, offering the first chance for snow locally. Higher elevations have the best chance to see flakes.

By Monday, cold Canadian air will push deep into the US, likely resulting in some lake-effect snow as winds shift to the north.

Tuesday offers a better opportunity for lake-effect snow off Lake Ontario with northwest winds. Significant accumulations are not expected, but forecasts will become clearer in the coming days.

Temperature and Additional Weather

Both Monday and Tuesday will remain cold, with highs not exceeding the 30s.

Wednesday will bring a clipper system through the area, accompanied by rain and breezy winds.

“Winds are more calm, with strongest gusts only around 20 MPH.”
“A punch of cold Canadian air makes its way deep into the US, and we are likely to see at least some lake flakes as the wind comes out of the north.”

Stay tuned for updates on timing and amounts for snow as the forecast evolves.
