Jesper Bratt scored on a breakaway 1:33 into overtime, leading the New Jersey Devils to a 4-3 victory against the Montreal Canadiens at Prudential Center on Thursday.
"I just tried to read the goalie's movement and felt like I came in with a lot of speed," Bratt said. "I felt pretty comfortable in that situation to try to make him believe I'd do one thing, and just try to read what the goalie was doing."
New Jersey was the first team this season to reach 10 wins.
"It's nice to get 10 wins, but we want to keep building our game," Devils forward Timo Meier said. "We know what we're trying to accomplish on a daily basis to get better and push each other. This game was a good game to learn from."
Dobes had started the season with six consecutive wins, posting a 1.97 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage.
The 24-year-old rookie goalie became emotional after the game, taking responsibility for the loss.
