Poppies are Back for Remembrance Day
The Royal Canadian Legion’s national poppy campaign is back, supporting veterans and their families. The campaign runs from October 31 to November 11, raising money for Canada’s veterans and their families.
The legion adopted the poppy as a symbol to commemorate the service and sacrifices of fallen soldiers in 1921, inspired by
John McCrae’s poem “In Flanders Fields”.
Getting Your Poppy
Poppies are given out freely to anyone who wishes to wear one, with the legion asking for a donation to the Poppy Fund. They are distributed by the legion’s many branches across the country and can be found at thousands of locations, including traditional poppy boxes.
Donating to Veterans
- Donations collected during the campaign are held in trust at each branch.
- Poppies can be obtained in-store or online.
