Celebrated Newry Author and Caricaturist Passes Away
A renowned Newry-based comics artist, caricaturist, illustrator, storyboard artist, and novelist, known for his 'Deadly Irish History' books, has passed away in hospice care.
John Farrelly was born and raised in a village just outside Newry, Co. He dropped out of art college to pursue his passion for writing stories and drawing pictures, becoming a freelance caricature artist.
He always did a full day's work – he just spread it over the whole week.
Farrelly's creative works were widely known, and he was published by O'Brien Press, the publisher of the 'Deadly Irish History' books.
