Illinois lawmakers have passed a new plan to fund Chicago-area public transit, avoiding major service cuts for the Chicago Transit Authority, Metra, and Pace.
The plan, passed in a late-night vote, will raise the sales tax in the Chicago area by 0.25% and increase tolls by 30% for trucks and 45 cents more for cars.
