Michael Whelan's Eurasian Odyssey

Waterford native Michael Whelan embarked on a two-month bike trip across Asia, covering approximately 3,000 kilometers from Osh, Kyrgyzstan to Karachi, Pakistan.

During his journey, Whelan faced numerous challenges, including freezing temperatures, mountainous ascents, and low oxygen levels.

You just have to slow down. I generally find with younger people they tend to have a target and an itinerary. They'll say, ‘I'm going to go from A to B today’, and they’ll want to get to B, where I don't do that at all. You have to just take it as it comes.

Whelan's approach to travel is centered around flexibility and adaptability, allowing him to fully immerse himself in the experience.
