The Michigan Military Technical and Historical Society Museum, located on Stephens Road, has a rich history dating back to its origins as a neighborhood ice rink.
According to Wendy Richardson, Military Museum CFO,
“It was called Shakespeare’s Field and it did not even have an address,”initially serving as an ice rink until tennis courts were added around 1970.
Richardson will present
“From Teen Center to Military Museum, The Story of our Building”on Nov. 9 at 2 p.m., showcasing the property's transition over the years.
The building, now home to the Military Museum, celebrates its 70th anniversary this year.
