Brian Keeling of High River, who passed away at the age of 93, was a dedicated volunteer at the Museum of the Highwood. His contributions have left a lasting impact on the community.
Keeling began volunteering at the museum in 2011 and committed to working three mornings each week. Over the years, he catalogued more than 29,000 items, playing a crucial role in preserving the museum’s collection.
“We went through a lot at the museum. We had a fire in 2010 and a flood in 2013.”
These events made Keeling's work essential, as many artifacts and photographs had no backup. His efforts helped restore order after these disasters.
Irene Kerr, the museum's director and curator for 17 years, worked closely with Keeling. She remembers him fondly:
“Brian was a fixture at the museum.”
Keeling’s presence and dedication will be deeply missed by the museum staff and the larger community.
Brian Keeling’s lifelong dedication to preserving local history ensured the museum’s collection survived challenging times and remains accessible for future generations.
