Denver Broncos overwhelmed Geno Smith with six sacks, compensating for inconsistent offense and special teams in a penalty-filled 10-7 victory. The game, held Thursday night in Denver, showcased the Broncos' defensive might despite a wind-challenged offensive display.
“We’ve got to clean up some of the penalties. We’ve got to clean up the execution and that is an ongoing thing that probably never ends,” said Coach Sean Payton after the win over the struggling Las Vegas Raiders.
“You search for that Shangri-La. Right now, you know, we’re sitting at eight wins. I think we’re the only team sitting there,” Payton added.
Broncos quarterback Bo Nix managed 150 passing yards with two interceptions and one touchdown pass.
“Yeah, we’ve got to do better. At some point, 10 points ain’t going to be enough. … We’ve got to find some juice somewhere,” Nix admitted.
The Broncos’ dominant defense drives their impressive 8-2 start, masking offensive struggles as they build momentum with a rare winning streak.
