Concerns over botulism have prompted a nationwide recall of three tomato pasta sauces made by First and Last Bakery, a Connecticut-based company. Consumers are urged to inspect their jars and return any affected products.
The recall involves 26-ounce jars distributed across Connecticut and Massachusetts between September 22 and October 28, 2025. Each jar is marked with a “Use By 09/26” date.
“The products were manufactured without an approved scheduled process or otherwise evaluated to determine if the process is adequate.”
According to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), First and Last Bakery has halted both production and sales to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
“The company has suspended sales and production to ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements.”
As of now, no illness reports have been received. The FDA continues to monitor the situation.
Improperly processed acidified or low-acid canned foods can promote the growth of Clostridium botulinum, the bacterium responsible for botulism. This rare but dangerous illness impacts the nervous system and can be fatal in 5–10 percent of cases.
