As Bam Adebayo’s MRI looms, Heat returns home hoping for good news: ‘We just got to wait and see’

As Bam Adebayo’s MRI Looms, Heat Returns Home Hoping for Good News

The Miami Heat and Bam Adebayo find themselves waiting anxiously for answers. After a week-long four-game road trip, the team packed up at Ball Arena in Denver on Wednesday night to fly back home to Miami. The locker room felt uneasy — not only because of the 122-112 loss to the Denver Nuggets, which dropped the Heat to a 4-4 record, but because of growing concern over their star center’s health.

Bam Adebayo, a three-time All-Star and team captain, exited the game late in the first quarter with a left foot injury and did not return. His condition remains uncertain as the team awaits medical results.

“We don’t know right now,” said Heat coach Erik Spoelstra before leaving Denver. “It’s his left foot, so we’ll find out more Thursday.”

Spoelstra returned home to South Florida, where he is also dealing with the aftermath of a devastating fire that destroyed his Coral Gables residence. Meanwhile, Adebayo is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Thursday in Miami to determine the severity of his injury.

“We’ll figure it out,” Adebayo said in the locker room. “Get more tests Thursday and then see how it goes.”

The Heat faces uncertainty ahead of a back-to-back stretch at Kaseya Center, beginning with Friday’s in-season tournament group-play game against the Charlotte Hornets.
