The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an urgent recall of three tomato sauce products linked to a potentially fatal food poisoning risk.
The sauces, produced by First and Last Bakery, LLC in Connecticut, were “manufactured without an approved schedule or otherwise evaluated to determine if the process is adequate,” increasing the risk of contamination by Clostridium botulinum, the bacterium that causes botulism, a dangerous form of food poisoning.
The recalled 26 FL OZ jars were sold in Big Y and Stop & Shop stores in Connecticut and Massachusetts starting September 22, 2025. The use-by dates extend through September 2026.
Customers are strongly advised not to use these sauces and to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
The FDA has suspended the sale and production of these sauces to “ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements.”
Similar recent recalls include warnings from Aldi and Lidl about popular snacks and products that customers were instructed “do not eat.”
