Cameron Norrie Reaches Metz Semifinals

Cameron Norrie secured a tough victory over local favorite Kyrian Jacquet at the Moselle Open on Thursday. As the last remaining seed at the ATP 250 event, Norrie won the final 11 points in a grueling two-hour and 25-minute match to advance to the semifinals.

“He surprised me a lot,” Norrie said of Jacquet, the third Frenchman he defeated this week. “He was mixing it up really well. A lot of slicing, then really aggressive at moments. His serve is really, really good.”

Norrie highlighted the depth of French talent: “The French have so many good players, so many different kinds of players. I really liked the way he competed and he could have easily won the match in the second set as well, but I managed to stay tough.”

Jacquet hit 48 winners, half of them from his forehand, compared to Norrie’s 28. Yet the 30-year-old British player delivered his best tennis when it mattered most to secure his spot in the final four.

Additional Quarterfinal Results

Lorenzo Sonego, the 2022 Metz champion, also remains in the tournament, aiming to add another title. Norrie hopes to claim his sixth tour-level title and first since 2023, when he defeated Carlos Alcaraz in Rio de Janeiro.

In another quarterfinal, #NextGenATP star Learner Tien came from behind to beat Matteo Berrettini 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 in one hour and 44 minutes, advancing to his second tour-level semifinal. It was their first meeting, and the 19-year-old converted all three break points he earned, according to Infosys ATP Stats.
