Elsie Dot Stancombe, aged seven, was one of three young girls fatally stabbed by Axel Rudakubana during a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport on July 29 last year.
The parents of Elsie Dot Stancombe have called for Rudakubana's mother and father to be held responsible for the tragedy.
During an inquiry, it was revealed that Rudakubana's mother made a 'zip it' gesture to his father as he was about to disclose concerning behaviour of their son to a support worker. Alphonse, Axel's father, admitted he was aware that Axel was hoarding large knives and weapons in the period leading up to the attack. He also said he may have prevented Axel's attempt to set fire to his former school just a week before the murders.
The parents of the three victims have issued strong statements, accusing Rudakubana’s parents of avoiding the truth about their son's escalating behaviour.
“They knew his behaviour was escalating. They saw the signs, the obsession, the growing desire to harm, especially in the months, weeks, and days before the attack. And still, they did nothing.”
The families demand accountability from Rudakubana’s parents, who were aware of their son's dangerous behaviour but failed to intervene before the tragic attack.
