Study Ranks European Cities Based on Popular Literature
We can all name a few literary books set in Europe, but can you name which European cities are mentioned the most?
Before television and social media, books were a major travel inspiration. Even today, books like Eat, Pray, Love and Where the Crawdads Sing can shape our travel dreams.
Aura Print, a UK-based printing company, ranked European cities based on their popularity in books. They studied 25 million literary works from 1920 to 2019 using the Google Books archive.
Their goal was to rank European cities by how often they were mentioned in popular books. The top five placements may not be surprising, but the last five might.
Books have the power to shape our travel dreams.
