‘Quite unusual’ as port reopens after boat runs aground

Port Reopens After Boat Runs Aground

A port has reopened after a boat that had run aground was moved.

The Port of Wisbech Harbour Authority announced the closure of Port Sutton Bridge and Port of Wisbech on Tuesday after the Marry S banked last Monday.

Gavin Patrick, director, Port Sutton Bridge, said: "The ship left here and ran aground on Monday night around 9pm caused by a neap tide. It is quite unusual for it to happen, and we think it is because of the tide time."

Following its removal, the river is reopened. The Marry S was able to be moved on the next available spring tide.

Gavin Patrick also stated: "We moved it yesterday afternoon, and the river is back open again."

Author's summary: Port reopens after boat removal.
