31 Days of Frights: Wishmaster
We continue the 31 Days of Frights with Wishmaster from 1997. A gemologist (Tammy Lauren) unwittingly frees an evil genie (Andrew Divoff) that plays deadly tricks on her friends and acquaintances.
Wishmaster is an awesome movie with a fun concept, highlighting the importance of being careful what we wish for. Each granted wish is twisted into a horrific, cleverly written scenario, proving that the Djinn is not to be trusted.
The movie was directed by Robert Kurtzman, a special effects expert with a background in films like From Dusk Till Dawn, The Exorcist 3, and Nightmare on Elm Street 3. The main character, Alex (Tammy Lauren), releases the Djinn and must make three wishes for him to take over the world.
