President Erdoğan Announces Monthly Production of Eight Altay Tanks
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has announced that Turkiye will manufacture eight Altay main battle tanks each month, marking a major milestone in the nation’s drive toward defense industry self-sufficiency.
The first batch of Altay tanks has been delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) under the Altay Tank Project, developed to meet the army’s main battle tank needs through domestic capabilities.
- Three units of Altay tanks officially entered the TSK inventory.
- The BMC Ankara Tank and Next-Generation Armored Vehicles Production Facility was inaugurated.
“We are taking firm steps toward the goal of a fully independent Turkiye in the defense industry. With the inauguration of the BMC Ankara Tank and Next-Generation Armored Vehicles Production Facility, we are integrating another major technological hub into our defense ecosystem.”
