The acclaimed Bainbridge Island restaurant is becoming a wine bar and exclusive supper club.
Chef Brendan McGill, owner of the Hitchcock group, closed Seabird in September due to rising costs that put a strain on the restaurant during the rainy months.
However, McGill retained ownership of the space and is rebooting it as Kingfisher in November. Kingfisher will operate as a market in the morning, a wine bar in the evenings, and a fine dining supper club one night a week.
McGill told the Seattle Times that rising costs were putting too much of a strain on a place that thrived during the summer but struggled in the rainy months.
