Restaurant Owners and Schools Help Feed Kids Amid SNAP Funding Crisis

As the government shutdown continues, thousands of families relying on federal food assistance are at risk of losing funding for the SNAP program.

Teresa Grado, co-owner of Lilly's Cantina, understands the struggles of putting food on the table. She shares her personal experience, saying

"I fed my son, he ate, every night. But me, on the other hand, didn’t"

In Missouri, over 600,000 people participate in SNAP, with 264,000 being children. In Kansas, there are approximately 182,000 SNAP participants, with nearly 77,000 being children.

To help, Grado's restaurant will offer free meals to children starting Saturday, saying

"I just want to be able to feed those who are in need"
