Huge Change for Australia’s Favourite Car
Toyota has unveiled the new-generation HiLux ute, introducing significant updates to Australia’s best-selling vehicle. After nearly a decade, drivers can expect major changes both inside and out.
Exterior and Interior Overhaul
The new HiLux features a complete exterior redesign created by Toyota’s Australian design team in Melbourne. Inside, the cabin has been extensively reworked to improve technology and usability compared to the previous model launched ten years ago.
New Powertrain Options
- The HiLux range now includes its first-ever Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) model, set to launch in 2026.
- A fleet-oriented Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV), powered by hydrogen, will follow in 2028.
- Traditional diesel variants will hit showrooms starting December 2025.
“The new HiLux delivers a wide range of improvements to on and off-road driveability, safety and comfort, along with a new interior design and features, and new exterior design, which we are proud to say was developed right here in Australia,” said Sean Hanley, Toyota Australia vice president of sales, marketing and franchise operations.
