A Louisiana-based football influencer, Peighton Tubre, has publicly refuted rumors about an alleged affair with LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier following a viral fake news article on Facebook.
In a video shared with her more than 200,000 Instagram followers, 26-year-old Tubre addressed the misinformation circulating online.
“I’d like to address some of the fake news that has been circulating about me on the internet,” she said. “Recently, there was an article posted on Facebook saying that I was having an affair with Garrett Nussmeier and that we were seen entering a hotel room together the night before one of his games.”
Tubre initially ignored the post, hoping it would fade without much attention, as it had few interactions at first.
“I was hoping it was going to go away and no one would see it,” she explained. “Spoiler alert, everyone saw it. People are blowing up my phone, people are reaching out to my family members which is really weird.”
Instead of disappearing, the rumors intensified with new false claims being made.
Tubre revealed that another fabricated article accused Nussmeier of sending her inappropriate photos, which she never posted or confirmed.
“So today, somebody sends me another article that they posted saying that Garret sent me unsolicited photos that made me uncomfortable, and I posted the screenshots on social media, which, if you follow me, you know I didn’t post anything like that,” she stated. “It is just fake, it is all fake.”
Peighton Tubre firmly denies all rumors of an affair and inappropriate contact with Garrett Nussmeier, calling the stories fake and emphasizing the negative impact of such misinformation.
