The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has urged Peloton users to stop using certain bikes immediately after receiving reports of seat posts breaking during use. The recall covers around 833,000 original Bike+ units sold between January 2020 and April 2025.
“The integrity of our products and our Members’ well-being are our top priorities,” said Márcio Oliveira, Peloton’s SVP of Global Hardware Operations and Product Safety. “We are making replacement seat posts available for all affected users and encourage them to contact us for the redesigned version as soon as possible.”
The CPSC reported three complaints connected to the issue, including two incidents resulting in injuries. It emphasized the need for consumers to “immediately stop using the recalled exercise bikes.”
This is not the first recall in Peloton’s history. In 2023, the company recalled roughly 2.2 million bikes due to safety concerns after similar injury reports. The current recall comes as Peloton continues to face operational challenges, including a leadership change and significant layoffs last year.
The company plans to release its new earnings report on Thursday as it tries to regain stability and growth following a slowdown in post-pandemic demand.
Peloton recalls 833,000 bikes after seat-post failures as the company faces recurring safety issues and seeks recovery amid leadership and performance challenges.
