Peloton is recalling approximately 833,000 bikes after reports of seat post breakage that could cause riders to fall and get injured. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall on Thursday.
The recall covers certain Peloton Original Series Bike+ models with model number PL02 and serial numbers beginning with the letter “T.” These bikes were manufactured from December 2019 through July 2022 and sold in the U.S.
“The seat post assembly on certain Peloton Original Series Bike+ models can break during use, posing a potential fall and injury risk to consumers,”the company stated.
Peloton has received three reports of seat post failures during exercise, including two injuries resulting from falls.
The bikes were sold at Dick’s Sporting Goods stores nationwide, online, onepeloton.com, Amazon, eBay, and other major retailers.
