Peloton Recalls Over 830,000 Bikes Due to Fall Risk
Peloton is recalling approximately 833,000 bikes after reports of seat post breakage that could cause riders to fall and get injured. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall on Thursday.
Details of the Recall
The recall covers certain Peloton Original Series Bike+ models with model number PL02 and serial numbers beginning with the letter “T.” These bikes were manufactured from December 2019 through July 2022 and sold in the U.S.
- Approximately 833,000 units sold in the U.S.
- 44,800 units sold in Canada with no reported issues
- Original Series Bike+ sold from January 2020 to April 2025
- Retail price around $2,495
Safety Concerns
“The seat post assembly on certain Peloton Original Series Bike+ models can break during use, posing a potential fall and injury risk to consumers,”the company stated.
Peloton has received three reports of seat post failures during exercise, including two injuries resulting from falls.

- Users should stop using the recalled bikes immediately
- Contact Peloton for a free replacement seat post
- The replacement part can be installed by the user
The bikes were sold at Dick’s Sporting Goods stores nationwide, online, onepeloton.com, Amazon, eBay, and other major retailers.
