Golden State basketball is back, and fans are invited to join the live game thread to discuss tonight’s matchup. The Golden State Warriors open their NBA Cup campaign with a Friday night game against the Denver Nuggets. Tip-off is at 7:00 PM PT in Denver, available for streaming on Prime Video.
In their previous game on Wednesday, the Warriors fell to the Sacramento Kings, 121–116. Both teams faced roster challenges — Golden State played without Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green, while the Kings missed Zach LaVine and Domantas Sabonis.
Despite the absences, the Warriors’ younger players showed promise. Moses Moody and rookie Will Richard combined for 58 points, keeping the team competitive throughout the night. Sacramento’s experienced lineup ultimately secured victory, led by Russell Westbrook’s triple-double performance with 23 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 assists.
Golden State will once again play without Curry, who continues to recover from illness. Draymond Green is expected to return to action, while Jimmy Butler, Moses Moody, and Al Horford remain questionable for the game.
“We were too careless with the ball. That has to change,” Steve Kerr said after Wednesday’s game.
The Warriors surrendered 30 points from 19 turnovers against the Kings and currently rank fourth in the NBA for turnovers per game (17.2). With Kerr emphasizing ball security, the team is expected to focus heavily on limiting mistakes against Denver.
The Warriors aim to rebound in NBA Cup play against the Nuggets, focusing on turnover control and lineup recovery while missing their star players.
