Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has ruled out point guard Stephen Curry for Wednesday’s game against the Sacramento Kings. The decision follows a grueling schedule and Curry’s worsening cold.
After the Warriors’ 118–107 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday at Chase Center, Curry appeared visibly under the weather. Coughing and sniffling throughout his postgame conference, he admitted the illness had affected his play but initially didn’t rule out playing the next night in Sacramento.
“I don’t care what the doctors say, we got to get him some rest. I’ll make the decision right now—he’s not going to play tomorrow,”
said Kerr, closing the door on any hope that the two-time MVP would suit up again so soon.
The Warriors, now 5–3, will miss Curry’s presence and might also be without star wing Jimmy Butler, who left Tuesday’s game at halftime after aggravating lower back soreness. He had played just 14 minutes before being ruled out.
Steph Curry’s illness and a demanding schedule prompt coach Steve Kerr to rest him, reflecting a focus on long-term health for the Warriors’ early season push.
