The ongoing postal strike in Canada has entered a critical stage as rotating strikes by Canada Post continue across multiple provinces, disrupting mail and parcel delivery ahead of the busy holiday season.
The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) initiated rotating strikes after months of unsuccessful negotiations with Canada Post. The union, representing over 50,000 employees including letter carriers and plant workers, is pressing for better wages, stronger job security, and improved working conditions amid rising inflation and heavy parcel volumes.
“We’ve been patient for too long,” said CUPW national president Jan Simpson. “Our members deserve fair pay, safe working conditions, and respect for the critical public service they provide.”
The rotating strikes have led to significant delays in mail delivery across Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, and Alberta. Customers and businesses are advised to expect slower postal service as negotiations continue.
The nationwide rotating Canada Post strike highlights deep labor tensions over wages and conditions, threatening timely deliveries just before the holiday rush.
