The Word Becoming Flesh in 600 Languages via The Chosen

Good gospel-focused translation brings people closer to each other and to Jesus. When done well, it changes lives, like those of Rita and her daughter, who discovered transformation while watching The Chosen. Rita’s journey led her to serve with Come and See, sharing the gospel through translation.

Rita’s Story of Gospel Transformation

Three years ago, I was browsing the internet looking for something uplifting to watch with my daughter. That night changed my life because we found The Chosen. It was available in Portuguese, our native tongue, but translated into Brazilian Portuguese rather than the European Portuguese we spoke and dreamed in. We decided to watch it anyway.

“This needs to be translated into your language. You are the one to do it.”

We watched it for three nights straight, growing more attached each time. Each night, a voice in my heart urged me to translate it into our language. Motivated, I pursued the opportunity.

Joining the Translation Team

After an interview and vetting process, I became part of a global team of over 200 expert translators. We work with Come and See to continue translating and consulting on The Chosen’s ongoing translations. I now appreciate deeply how challenging—and vital—the task of translating God’s story and word really is.

Translation has enriched my understanding of the Bible and equipped me to share God's message more widely.

Author’s summary: Gospel translation not only spreads the message of Jesus but powerfully transforms lives by connecting hearts across languages and cultures.
