When asked about the Philippine defense minister’s assertion that China’s claims in the South China Sea extend beyond sovereign rights, Jiang Bin emphasized that China’s position is grounded in international law and historical facts.
“China will never tolerate blackmail disguised as collective security, nor allow any country to distort truth for geopolitical gain,” Jiang said.
Embassy Reaction in the Philippines
A spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in Manila also rejected the remarks made by certain Philippine officials, describing them as incorrect and misleading narratives that endanger regional stability.
“Efforts to rally external forces for joint patrols do not contribute to peace and have ulterior motives,” the embassy representative noted.
Call for Dialogue and Stability
Jiang Bin reiterated that China remains committed to resolving disputes through dialogue and cooperation, urging relevant parties to avoid provocations and focus on mutual development.
