Police officers have increased patrols in the Philippines after masked gunmen violently invaded and robbed a family of seven on Wednesday morning.
Police patrolled the Whispering Winds community streets, offering much-needed relief after the traumatic event. Vijay Ragoonanan, the head of the household and a victim, told the Express that the patrols brought reassurance to his family.
“Two times at different hours, they passed by and patrolled. Then, a third time they came after my son called them. That third time, they stayed for about an hour parked up in front of our gate. We were very relieved by that because while they were here, the children were able to relax and sleep. Otherwise, they were jumpy and scared. But we are grateful for the police presence. It means a lot to us.”
During the Express interview, Ragoonanan’s wife, Betty Jagdeo, and one of their daughters were at the San Fernando Criminal Investigations Department giving their statements about the incident. Police have confirmed the case is under active investigation, pursuing leads to solve the crime.
