The National Weather Service (NWS) office in Hanford, California, has issued a dense fog advisory for several areas of the Central Valley, including Merced, Madera, Mendota, Planada, Le Grand, Snelling, Fresno, Clovis, Hanford, Corcoran, Lemoore, Visalia, Porterville, and Reedley.
The advisory is valid from 4 a.m. until 10 a.m. Friday. The alert warns that visibility may be reduced to a quarter mile or less, making driving conditions potentially dangerous.
“Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.”
“Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous. If driving, slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.”
The NWS emphasizes taking extra caution or avoiding travel when possible during foggy conditions. Widespread dense fog can drastically reduce visibility and make travel unsafe.
