Officers in Stockport are investigating after a fire was deliberately started near a war memorial just days before Remembrance Sunday. Emergency services were called at around 9:50 pm on Wednesday, 5 November, following reports of a group of males near the Cenotaph in Marple.

The fire involved a bin and wooden pallets, causing damage to the nearby ground. Marple neighbourhood officers are appealing for information to help with the investigation.
