Senior Liberal Senator Sarah Henderson has voiced concerns about Sussan Ley’s leadership as internal tensions grow within the Coalition regarding the net zero policy.
The Liberal Party faces mounting demand to clarify its position on net zero, following the Nationals’ decision to abandon the policy.
In an interview with Sky News Australia host Peter Stefanovic, Senator Henderson, who opposes the net zero policy, highlighted that Ms. Ley is losing support within the party.
"I can't pretend things are good. We've had a dire Newspoll result, a primary vote of just 24 per cent. Things are not traveling well."
When asked about Ms. Ley's leadership stability, Senator Henderson said:
"I could not support things the way they are. I do have to say, really honestly, I do think Sussan is losing support, but I do believe in miracles, we can turn things around."
Senator Henderson made it clear she cannot support the current direction within the party, signaling that the leadership is under serious challenge.
