The city is preparing for the annual Christmas Pageant, marking the start of the festive season on Saturday morning. Drivers are advised to plan their travel as multiple streets across the CBD will be closed from early morning until the afternoon.
Organizers expect more than 300,000 people to gather along the streets to enjoy the celebration. A complete list of road closures is available on the official Christmas Pageant website.
The parade will follow its traditional route, beginning at South Terrace, continuing along King William Street, passing the western side of Tarntanyangga, through Reconciliation Plaza, Wakefield Street, Pulteney Street, and North Terrace, and ending at Beehive Corner.
“The Christmas Pageant brings huge numbers to the city each year so road closures will be in place tomorrow morning to keep everyone safe,” said RAA Senior Manager of Safety and Infrastructure Charles Mountain.
“On-street parking will be as rare as a white Christmas, so check for off-street options and allow plenty of extra time if you’re driving to the Pageant.”
Author’s Summary: Large crowds and multiple CBD road closures are expected on Pageant morning, so city drivers should plan routes and parking well ahead of time.
