Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown has been extradited from Dubai and will face trial in Miami on an attempted murder charge.
The charge stems from a shooting outside an amateur boxing event in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood on May 16. Brown, who spent most of his 12-year career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, is accused of firing two shots at a man after an altercation.
According to an arrest warrant issued in June, Brown appeared to grab “a black firearm from the right hip area” of a security official and fired at the man, identified as Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu.
Authorities confirmed Brown, 37, was extradited from Dubai, where he was reportedly trying to evade U.S. law enforcement. He arrived in Newark, New Jersey, and was booked into Essex County Jail on Thursday.
He is set to be transferred to South Florida, although the exact timeline for this transfer is unclear.
Video footage of the May incident circulated on social media, showing Brown involved in a fight at the event hosted by popular streamer Adin Ross.
