Former Central Michigan University and NFL player Antonio Brown has been arrested on charges of attempted murder, confirmed by Miami Police.
The charge relates to an incident on May 16, following a celebrity boxing event in Miami. Shots were fired, and Brown was briefly detained at the time.
Brown stated on social media: “I had been jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me.”
He also wrote, “Police temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me. I WENT HOME THAT NIGHT AND WAS NOT ARRESTED.”
However, according to the Associated Press, Brown was later named in an arrest warrant. He is accused of grabbing a handgun from a security staffer and firing two shots at a man with whom he had a prior fistfight. The victim told investigators that one bullet grazed his neck.
Brown was arrested in Dubai and transported to Newark, New Jersey. Miami Police met him there, and he is awaiting extradition back to Miami.
Miami Police Chief Manuel Morales stated, “Let this serve as a clear message; no matter who you are or where you run, we will pursue the facts, identify you, locate you, and bring you to justice.”
Antonio Brown faces serious legal challenges after a shooting incident in Miami, reflecting law enforcement's commitment to accountability regardless of status.
