Seventh seed Cameron Norrie advanced to the quarter-finals of the Moselle Open in Metz, overcoming local favorite Arthur Cazaux in three sets. The British player sealed a 6-7 (1), 7-6 (7), 6-2 victory after two hours and 49 minutes of play.
Norrie began strongly, breaking Cazaux in the opening game. However, the Frenchman countered with a break in the sixth game and dominated the tie-break to take the first set. The second set was tightly contested, both players holding serve until Norrie edged out his opponent to level the match. In the decider, Norrie raised his level, breaking Cazaux twice to secure the win.
Just a week earlier, Norrie made headlines by defeating world number one Carlos Alcaraz at the Paris Masters, marking another impressive achievement in his season.
At the Hellenic Championship in Athens, Novak Djokovic defeated Alejandro Tabilo to reach the quarter-finals. Tabilo, ranked 89th, had previously beaten Djokovic twice on clay, in Rome and Monte Carlo.
This time, Djokovic dominated on the hard court, serving 13 aces and facing only one break point. The top seed secured a 7-6 (3), 6-1 victory, achieving the 225th tour-level quarter-final of his career.
"Tabilo had beaten the 24-time grand slam singles champion in both of their previous meetings."
Norrie and Djokovic both advanced to quarter-finals in strong displays, with Norrie prevailing in a tense three-set clash and Djokovic showing his dominance on hard courts once again.
