Dakota Fanning revealed a unique birthday gift tradition she has with Tom Cruise, stemming from their work together in the 2005 film War of the Worlds, where Fanning played Cruise’s daughter.
The actress explained that the tradition began when she turned 12, as Cruise knew she loved shoes and was excited to start wearing adult sizes.
“He sends me beautiful shoes, it’s a tradition that started, I think, on my 12th birthday.”
“I loved shoes, and I just had started fitting into adult-sized shoes, and so I was really excited about it. And so for that birthday he gave me shoes, and he’s kept the tradition going for 20 years.”
Fanning shared on the Today show that the Top Gun: Maverick star continues to send her a new pair of shoes every year as a birthday gift. When asked about the brand, she simply described the gift as "nice."
Dakota Fanning treasures a two-decade tradition of receiving special birthday shoes from Tom Cruise, highlighting their enduring friendship since their film collaboration.
