First and Last Bakery, LLC, a Connecticut-based company, has issued a recall for three tomato sauce products due to potential health hazards. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) highlighted this recall in a recent announcement, emphasizing the importance of food safety and consumer vigilance.
All sauces come in 26 FL OZ jars and were distributed to retail stores in Connecticut and Massachusetts, including Big Y and Stop & Shop. The distribution began on September 22, 2025, and the products carry "Use By Dates" of September 2026.
The FDA indicates that these sauces were produced without an approved manufacturing schedule or evaluation, raising the risk of contamination by Clostridium botulinum. This bacterium causes botulism, a serious and potentially fatal foodborne illness.
Botulism symptoms can be severe and include respiratory failure and death in extreme cases.
Consumers are urged to check their purchases and avoid using these products to prevent serious health complications.
This recall of tomato sauces by First and Last Bakery highlights serious food safety lapses that pose a life-threatening botulism risk, urging consumer caution and awareness.
