Kalispell Angler Terry Krogstad Wins Fall Mack Days
The 2025 Fall Mack Days Fishing Event on Flathead Lake, sponsored by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, concluded Sunday with a total of 19,144 lake trout entries, surpassing last year’s 18,414.
A total of 335 anglers participated, with 116 submitting one or more lake trout. The catch was divided into 5,369 entries from Monday to Thursday and 13,775 entries from Friday to Sunday, both exceeding the 2024 numbers (3,811 Monday-Thursday and 14,603 Friday-Sunday).
Jens Gran of Polson won all three Mack Days Bucket of Fish contests with a total of 93.65 pounds of lake trout.

Top Anglers Results
- Terry Krogstad of Kalispell took the Top Angler title with 1,206 entries and a 57.83 average over 18 days.
- David Myers of Riverton, Wyoming, placed second with 986 entries (51.56 average).
- Larry Ashwell of Missoula finished third with 1,007 entries (49.5 average).
- Other top contenders included Julie Perkins (1,027), Jack Kirkland (803), Patrick Casey (774), Devon Burkowski (760), Richard Kreis (663), Lyndon Lee (535), and Mike Benson (516), with averages ranging from 48.83 to 27.17.
The Top 10 anglers are ranked by their best 18 days of entries.
This event highlights the ongoing enthusiasm for fishing in Flathead Lake and demonstrates strong participation by anglers across the region.
